As avid Star Wars fans may already know, Cad Bane is a Duros bounty hunter who gained notoriety for his ruthlessness and skill during the era of the Clone Wars. Throughout this article, we will dive deeper into Cad Bane’s character, his strengths and weaknesses, and how he can hold his own in a universe filled with Force users. So get ready for an exciting exploration of one of Star Wars’ most skillful, and surprisingly force-less, characters.

Who Is Cad Bane? A Ruthless And Skilled Bounty Hunter

Cad Bane is blue-skinned Duros, ruthless and very skilled bounty hunter from the planet Duro (hence the name of the species Duros). He was regularly hired by other villains and various crime families like Count Dooku and the Hutt Cartel. He has a reputation as one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.

He was known for using weapons and gadgets that were specifically designed to counter the abilities of Jedi and clone troopers.

Bane became one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy after Jango Fett’s demise. He was cold, cruel and capable in his line of work, and cared little for the sinister motives of his employers. Cad Bane was known for wearing a wide-brimmed hat and wielding a pair of LL-30 blaster pistols. On his gauntlets he had stunners he had a flamethrower. Bane also had breathing tubes, that enabled him to survive after being Force choked, and rocket boots which able him to keep up with Jedi. He also was a very skilled pilot and he flew the Rogue-class starfighter Xanadu Blood.

What Is the Force And Why Some Are Able To Use It And Others Not?

The Force is an energy field which is present everywhere and is flowing through everything. Some are more sensitive to it than others as they are able to harness it and transform it into other types of energy (like telekinesis, mental suggestion, precognition, etc.).

The Force was first described by Obi-Wan Kenobi as an energy field created by all living things which surrounds and penetrates living beings and binds the galaxy together.

Can Cad Bane Use the Force

Not anyone can use the Force and we know that now since we were introduced to midi-chlorians in The Phantom Menace in 1999. Before introduction of midi-chlorians it was thought that anyone with enough training and will power could have become force sensitive.

So in order to use the Force you need to have a high enough midi-chlorian count.

Midi-chlorians are microscopic life forms that reside within us. They are a conduit between a life form and the Force because all life forms have them (except for the Yuuzhan Vong). If one possesses enough midi-chlorians per cell that meant that he is Force Sensitive and can learn to use the Force practically if sentient. Non-sentient Force Sensitive beings could use it passively.

For instance Anakin Skywalker had over 20,000 midi-chlorians per cell which meant that he could channel the Force more easily than other Force Sensitives who had less midi-chlorian.

This basically means that the number of midi-chlorians per cell determines how attuned one can become with the Force and the higher one’s midi-chlorian count is the more able they were to access and use the Force.

Midi-chlorian counts range from normal levels of 2,500 per cell to the much higher levels (those of Jedi). Anakin Skywalker had the highest known midi-chlorian count per cell (over 20,000). Number of midi-chlorians per cell can be determined with a blood test.

But Can Cad Bane Use The Force? Is He Force Sensitive?

Bane wasn’t able to use the Force and as far as we know it he wasn’t Force sensitive although many believe he was and here’s why.

He was able to hold his own against multiple Jedis on multiple occasions and he survived for so many encounters with Jedi which is the reason many fans believe he was also Force sensitive. But the real reason he could’ve fought so many Jedi is because he was that good. As simple as it sounds we have to remember that he was one of the best bounty hunters and assassins. He had amazing reflexes, speed and was a skilled and versatile fighter who had supreme skills with melee weapons including swords, knives, and batons.

So Why Didn’t The Jedi Use The Force On Cad Bane And Force Chocked Him?

Well first it is important to remember that Jedi aren’t some street brawlers who use the Force likely. They have high morals and to use the Force too aggressively and too often against a non-Force sensitive (and therefore weaker) opponent simply wasn’t the Jedi way. It’s the way of the dark side.

Besides that, just like General Grievous and like Boba Fett and the Mandalorians, Cad Bane had turned himself into a living weapon and he was more than capable of giving the Jedi a tough fight.

His opus of weapons and gadgets, in combination with his impressive skill set, propelled him beyond most other bounty hunters. To fight against Jedi he used devices such as stun gauntlets, grapple cords, rocket boots and flame throwers; all that was designed to mimic and counterattack the Jedi moves.

Even if a Jedi tried to Force choke him he was able to escape the clutches of a Force choke thanks to his breathing tubes because if they tried to crush his larynx the breathing tubes could supply him with oxygen directly into his pores, all thanks to his Duros physiology. This left him able to attack the Jedi with numerous surprises and to just grab him, and use the force to pull him closer would be very dangerous as you never know what he had up his sleeve. That is why it just wasn’t that easy to simply use the Force to subdue one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.

Cad Bane Has Killed Jedis Numerous Times And He Was Even Skilled Enough To Kill A Jedi Master

His proficiency in killing Jedi had earned him the notoriety of the two Sith Lords, Sidious and Dooku, who each hired Bane for his extraordinary talents. He was even hired to steal a Jedi Holocron, and to kidnap the Supreme Chancellor.

Bane also had the corpse of dead Jedi Ord Enisence in his hotel room when he was planning to steal from the Jedi Temple. Although it was never clearly stated who exactly killed Master Enisence it’s more than likely that Cad Bane was behind it.

Cad Bane Used A Lightsaber In A Fight?

Cad Bane even used a lightsaber that belonged to Quinlan Vos to fight off Obi Wan Kenobi. Although it was brief and in the middle of the fight, Bane certainly showed that he could hold his ground, hand to hand with an amazing saber duelist.

Eventually Bane Was Killed By Boba Fett

Although Bane was one of the best bounty hunters he was eventually killed by Boba Fett in one of their altercations.

Even though Boba Fett killed Bane it is our impression that Cad was better in that fight and he could have bested Boba.
